6 Tips to Discover the Value of Your Collectible Items
by ranjoo shang - Monday, 16 June 2008, 07:55 AM
Anyone in the world
By Monique Hawkins There are many collectible items people enjoy having in their unique collections. These items include music boxes, antique coins, mechanical music and instruments, antique furniture, and NASCAR collectibles to name a few. There are ways for collectors to discover if their items are valuable. Let's find out how to do so. 1. Always check out the condition of your item first. Look carefully for scratches, tears, dirt, if the item is new, clean, etc. In other words, check the item over with a fine toothcomb! 2. Make sure you have enough light when you check your collectibles. Pay close attention to the name, identification marks, and copyright. Look for imperfections, tears, scratches, and discoloration. 3. If you enjoy collecting dolls, a doll intact in a box raises its value. If the box is damaged or missing, then the value decreases and some are even considered worthless. 4. Visit forums, discussion boards, and other places where collectors gather; get their opinions on your particular collectible. 5. Take the time and visit eBay If you choose to look into the value of your collectible by visiting an auction site eBay is a good move. eBay has all kinds of collectibles you can imagine. Here are some simple steps to assist you in your eBay search: -In order to use some of the search function, you must be a registered user with eBay. The registration process is easy and free! So, first, take the time and create an account. -Search for the category where your collectible is most likely to be listed. For example, starting at "collectibles" would be a good option. -If you are seeking value for specific collectibles such as antique cars, music boxes, antique coins, etc., check only in the search box for that particular collectible. The search box is a handy tool that helps you find what you need. -Next, check out the completed auctions box and study the prices and descriptions of collectible items that have been sold. -Click on individual collectible auctions that you are interested in. You will find a wealth of information such as the price of the item sold, the condition, etc. -Always keep in mind that eBay prices usually are not the best. At lot of times, the price could be more if the collectible were sold locally. This is because most online auction buyers haven?t been able to actually take a look at the item in person. 6. Other places to look for the Value of Collectibles There are many other places to discover information on the value of your collectibles. These include antique and collectible stores in your home town, and other online auction sites such listantique.com and anteq.com. MBSI.org and Amica.org are great sites for those interested in mechanical instruments as well as music boxes. Completing research at your local library is also a good source as well as the local hobby clubs in your city. Finding the value of your collectibles such as music boxes, antique coins, mechanical music and instruments, antique furniture, etc. does not have to be a difficult and daunting task. For those collectible enthusiasts, the process can actually be quite fun! Why not find out the value of your collectibles starting today? When Customer Rewards Programs Backfire
by ranjoo shang - Thursday, 12 June 2008, 04:44 AM

By L. Winslow Many business marketing gurus will advise businesses to set up a customer rewards program. However this is not always a very wise idea. For instance if you do not have a loyal customer base and you start an awards program to increase your loyalty you may find that your competition does the exact same thing and since they have a larger customer database and more loyal customers this will backfire on you. Just because a business tactic works in some industries does not mean that all industries should adopt it and just because a marketing guru thinks it is the cool and the trendy thing to do does not mean it will work. Customer rewards programs can also backfire if there is a rumor that the customer information database has been leaked, hacked or compromised in any way. Even if the customer data base is completely safe and has not been hacked it is hard to stop a rumor. When setting up a customer rewards program you need to make sure it will not backfire and to think out the strategy in advance and consider all the other options as well. A bundling of services or sending out coupons to your current customers may work just as well as a customer rewards program where you lock in the customer by giving them discounts if they purchase. If you want to increase your market share and get more of your competition's market share but you are a small fish in a big pond you may want to be careful about instituting a customer rewards program as it could backfire on you and you'll be sorry. What Is A Marketing Roadmap
by ranjoo shang - Saturday, 7 June 2008, 08:54 PM
Anyone in the world
By Kym Moore Most people dont realize the true impact of having a marketing plan. Whether your organization is profit or nonprofit, if you have a product, message or mission that youre trying to communicate to the masses, then you definitely need a plan of action. Many businesses have a great product or service, but when asked what their marketing strategy is, they fail to come up with an effective marketing plan to penetrate their targeted audience. A marketing roadmap is similar to preparing for a trip. How? When taking a trip, you look at where youre headed and map out the best possible route to get to your destination. Lets examine this checklist of seven things you would review prior to traveling on your trip, compared to their navigational significance in your marketing roadmap: 1. TRIP: What is my destination? BUSINESS: What is my goal for my business? 2. TRIP: Who are my traveling companions? BUSINESS: Do I have effective employees, support staff and a targeted market/audience? 3. TRIP: How much money will I need to travel with? BUSINESS: What is my projected marketing budget? 4. TRIP: How will I get to my destination? BUSINESS: What are the marketing vehicles (ie. email, newsletters, mailers, media communication) I will use to reach my targeted market/audience? 5. TRIP: What types of clothes do I need to take with me? BUSINESS: Will I have seasonal, one-time or year-round clients? 6. TRIP: What items do I need to take in case of an emergency? BUSINESS: In the event that something unexpected happens with my initial plans, do I have a backup game plan to continue on the road to reaching my goals? 7. TRIP: What is my trips ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival)? BUSINESS: What are my short and long term business goals (ie. 6 months, 1 year, 5 years and beyond)? After taking your trip, what were the favorable vs. non-favorable things you experienced? How did you handle any detours? Would you use another mode of transportation for traveling the next time? Did you take enough money with you? These questions can help you understand the dynamics of planning, editing and executing your marketing roadmap. Like reading a map or checking for driving directions online, someone previously traveled down the same road to success that youre traveling and already engineered the best possible routes to take, leading you to through the path of attaining business victory! You dont need to reinvent the wheel, just add an accessory piece to tailor your personalized approach to something already proven to work! Credit Card Wealth Secrets
by ranjoo shang - Tuesday, 3 June 2008, 05:39 PM
Anyone in the world
By Steven Gillman "Credit card wealth secrets," the ad read. I assumed it was yet another over-hyped unworkable scheme. It probably was, but it made me remember the times in my life when I have used credit cards to make money. As Robert Kyosaki says, there's "good debt" and "bad debt. Borrowing for consumer items is bad-debt. You limit your future options, and you get less in life. It seems like more, because you get it now, but with interest, and the tendency to pay more when buying on credit, you'll never be able to buy as much as those who pay cash. Credit card wealth secrets have to revolve around the idea of "good debt." This is any borrowing that increases your income, or produces capital gains. So how do you get your credit cards to start doing that for you? Credit Card Wealth Creation A good friend once borrowed $6,000 from me at 9% interest. I didn't have the money at the time, but I had a credit card offer for a cash advance for 8 months at 5% interest. I loaned him the money for six months. Okay, a 4% spread meant only a $120 profit in the end, but it was easy. A better example is when we bought a little house in Montana. A cash offer would get us a great deal, so with our savings and a $2,000 worth of repairs on a credit card, we made it work. We paid less than $100 in interest before selling the house a few months later for a $6,500 profit. My money was tied up when my brother found a truck we could make some money on. I put it on a card, and paid maybe $35 in fees and interest. The car was sold ten days later, and we split the $950 profit. A friend of mine once borrowed $300 at more than 100% annual interest ($50 for two months). Why? To buy the tools he needed to re-start his dry-walling business. He probably made enough the first week to repay the loan. The point is that any debt - whether from credit cards or other sources - can be good debt if it creates more than it costs. I have known people that have started successful businesses or "flipped" houses for big gains with the help of credit cards. Get rich quick? Doubtful, but then my skepticism almost made me forget my own "credit card wealth secrets." Steve Gillman has been studying money for thirty years (and sometimes making a little). Choosing the Right Paralegal Courses
by ranjoo shang - Friday, 30 May 2008, 05:12 AM
Anyone in the world
By Kent Pinkerton Paralegals typically have a bachelors degree to help them professionally assist lawyers or corporations and government agencies dealing with the law. Paralegals help lawyers navigate the large amounts of paperwork generated in legal proceedings by indexing, photocopying, and filing. Paralegals also may hold hearings or interview witnesses. A job as a paralegal may help a recent college graduate get into law school, it may help a professional make connections and gain experience to enter law, business, or government, or it may be a rewarding career in itself. In 2001, the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA) estimated that 84 percent of paralegals had formal paralegal education beyond an associates or bachelors degree. Numerous courses exist to help paralegals advance their careers. Before choosing any program, however, the NFPA urges paralegals to critically evaluate the program. Make certain the program is approved by the American Bar Association. The NFPA provides a list, for a small fee, of accredited paralegal training programs. Online directories can also help a paralegal find a program, either online or at a local college or university. Many of these paralegal programs are also online. A quick search on the Internet reveals several online paralegal courses. Kaplan University, Keiser College, Saint Leo University, the University of Phoenix Online, and Berkeley College all offer online paralegal education programs. Online schools can lead to paralegal certificates, paralegal associate degrees, paralegal bachelors degrees, or law certificates. Online courses let paralegals learn, for the most part, at their own pace. Online introductory courses prepare a paralegal for the legal environment. More advanced studies allow paralegals to learn about management, or specialize in fields like civil litigation, criminal law, or business contracts. Online courses may also boost the career of an experienced paralegal who does not have a bachelors degree. Online courses allow paralegals to learn more and specialize, opening the door to more opportunities for advancement in this rapidly growing field. Think Thin to Lose Weight
by ranjoo shang - Tuesday, 27 May 2008, 09:43 PM
Anyone in the world
By Michael Bens Your battle with weight might have begun in your childhood, as you attempted to find out how many cookies you can eat in one sitting. Or maybe it occurred around the time you step foot on college campus for the first time. Those late nights of studying might have led you to late-night binge eating sessions. Or maybe you gained a good amount of weight after the birth of your first child, and seemed to be stuck with it ever since. Regardless of the cause, weight gain is a serious matter. It affects your energy levels, your stamina, and your overall health. Obesity has been linked to numerous diseases, including heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. Once you determine that you are overweight, the first step to a thinner you is to make a commitment to bring your weight under control. This can be a daunting venture. In essence, you have conditioned your mind to think like a fat person, rather than a thin person. In order to reverse this mindset, you need to learn to think like a thin person. What exactly does this mean? How does a thin person think? To begin, it means that you must abandon your preconceived ideas about food and eating. Eating might have become a social event for you, and as a result youll need to learn to become sociable without food. This is the same struggle that alcoholics face as they learn to socialize without beer or liquor. This lesson is tough, and yes it can be difficult, but try it and see the results for yourself. Thinking thin or rather thinking like a thin person also means that you need to develop new coping strategies. You might be viewing food as your friend, the one you turn to when things arent going well. You might also be eating in secret, because feelings of shame arise as to the amounts of food you eat. You need to sync your public persona with your private persona, and your diet should do so as well. A significant number of thin people exercise without even noticing it. Activity is a normal part of their day. The same thing needs to be true of you. You need to exercise as much as possible; let it become second nature to you. Dont allow it to become a chore, let it be the fun part of your week. Take an inventory of your preferences. Whether you like tennis, bowling, badminton, or running, choose the activity that best represents your style. Then exercise diligently, preferably six times per week. This will boost your metabolism so that you burn fat at a faster rate. Also, if you have any fear of exercising, overcome it! As an overweight person, you might find exercise to be frustrating, and you might fear what other people will think of you as they watch you exercise. You should realize that chances are no one is paying attention to your exercise routine. Dont let fear get in the way of progress. Thinking thin also means controlling portion sizes. This can be difficult, especially when eating out. However, the key to effective weight loss often lies in limiting the amount of food you intake, and the first step is portion control. Consider using smaller plates in order to control your food portions, and to ensure that food portions are not too large. Also realize that thinking thin does not happen overnight. It can take a long time to develop your thought patterns and changing them can be a challenge. The important thing to remember is to take one step at a time and keep in mind that your weight loss will not happen instantly. It will sometimes take months of hard work to reach your ideal weight. However, the good news is that once you get into the habit of thinking thin, its a trait you can benefit from throughout your life. The difference between a fat person and a thin person is not just a matter of the body, but of mind as well. Once you realize that, you will be well on your way to accomplishing your weight loss goals, short term and long term. Planning a Church Wedding Ceremony
by ranjoo shang - Saturday, 24 May 2008, 01:18 AM
Anyone in the world
By Charlene Davis So, youre getting hitched?! Thats great! Congratulations! But when you come down from the clouds and hit the ground with the inevitable thud, just be prepared to take off in a sprint because girl weve got a lot to do! First things first - have you decided where youre getting married? This is the very next step you need to take early in the planning process. Outdoor weddings are always beautiful, as is someones palatial home. Maybe you could hit the boss up to donate his digs after that stinky raise he gave you. If you have a generous budget, Ive seen some beautiful weddings take place at bed and breakfast inns, or you could do something more contemporary at a hotel both of which can also accommodate your reception immediately afterwards. Of course, there is always the preferred traditional choice the church wedding ceremony. Wait a sec. Lets pause at that last word ceremony. In Websters New World Dictionary, the meaning of the word translates to, a set of formal acts proper to a special occasion, as a religious rite. In essence - a service. And since the ceremony is being held in a church, it is naturally understood to be a worship service. Although with a few of the services Ive directed, a dog-and-pony show would be a more adept description. But I wont go into any of the gory details (unless you ask me to). However, if you decide to be married in a church there are several things to be considered, such as location, dates, price (if youre not a member, they charge extra), and things like that. Most importantly, be sure to have a clear understanding about what the church policies and procedures are to make sure they will be able accommodate your plans for your special day. Most churches will have a printed form or booklet that outlines the pertinent information. After you have carefully looked it over, start asking questions. If there is something special that you want to do with the service, whether it is regarding the music, decorations, order of service, whatever - make sure that everyone is on the same wavelength you are and has a clear understanding of what youre asking. And if they nix your idea, please be gracious and accepting of whatever the churchs guidelines are for wedding protocol. Always keep in mind that a ceremony held in a church really is a worship service and you, your fianc, wedding party, and even wedding guests, should conduct yourselves accordingly and in a way that will be pleasing to God. After all, whether you are a member of that church or not, you are all guests in the House of the Lord. I wish you all the happiness in the world, and may the Lord richly bless your marriage with health, joy, love and 12 children (oops, typo!). And may you have a wilt-free wedding day! ________________________ Charlene Davis is an experienced and published writer specializing in business, retail, e-commerce, weddings, parenting, spirituality, and food. So, Why Don't You Tell Me About Yourself?
by ranjoo shang - Wednesday, 21 May 2008, 03:21 AM
Anyone in the world
By Linda Matias "So, why don't you tell me about yourself?" is the most frequently asked interview question. It's a question that most interviewees expect and the one they have the most difficulty answering. Though one could answer this open-ended question in a myriad of ways, the key to answering this question or any other interview question is to offer a response that supports your career objective. This means that you shouldn't respond with comments about your hobbies, spouse, or extra curricular activities. Trust me, interviewers aren't interested. Interviewers use the interview process as a vehicle to eliminate your candidacy. Every question they ask is used to differentiate your skills, experience, and personality with that of other candidates. They want to determine if what you have to offer will mesh with the organization's mission and goals. If answered with care, your response to the question, "So, why don't you tell me about yourself?" could compliment the interviewers needs as well as support your agenda. This is a question you should be prepared to answer as opposed to attempting to "wing it". Follow the four easy steps outlined below to ensure your response will grab the interviewers attention. 1. Provide a brief introduction. Introduce attributes that are key to the open position. Sample introduction: During my 10 years' of experience as a sales manager, I have mastered the ability to coach, train, and motivate sales teams into reaching corporate goals. 2. Provide a career summary of your most recent work history. Your career summary is the "meat" of your response, so it must support your job objective and it must be compelling. Keep your response limited to your current experience. Don't go back more than 10 years. Sample career summary: Most recently, at The Widget Corporation, I was challenged with turning around a stagnant territory that ranked last in sales in the Northeastern region. Using strategies that have worked in the past, I developed an aggressive sales campaign that focused on cultivating new accounts and nurturing the existing client base. The results were tremendous. Within six months my sales team and I were able to revitalize the territory and boost sales by 65%. 3. Tie your response to the needs of the hiring organization. Don't assume that the interviewer will be able to connect all the dots. It is your job as the interviewee to make sure the interviewer understands how your experiences are transferable to the position they are seeking to fill. Sample tie-in: Because of my proven experience in leading sales teams, Craig Brown suggested I contact you regarding your need for a sales manager. Craig filled me in on the challenges your sales department is facing. 4. Ask an insightful question. By asking a question you gain control of the interview. Don't ask a question for the sake of asking. Be sure that the question will engage the interviewer in a conversation. Doing so will alleviate the stress you may feel to perform. Sample question: What strategies are currently underway to increase sales and morale within the sales department? There you have it - a response that meets the needs of the interviewer AND supports your agenda. When broken down into manageable pieces, the question, "So, tell me about yourself?" isn't overwhelming. In fact, answering the question effectively gives you the opportunity to talk about your strengths, achievements, and qualifications for the position. So take this golden opportunity and run with it! Marketing for Business Leaders: Three Steps to Increase Marketing Effectiveness
by ranjoo shang - Sunday, 18 May 2008, 08:09 PM
Anyone in the world
By Susan Tatum In the quest to increase results from marketing, companies tend to focus on tactics. They worry about creating a better brochure, upgrading the website, or running a new ad campaign. However, often the greatest leaps in marketing effectiveness come from focusing on how it all ties together. Here are three steps for business leaders to improve their marketing effectiveness by fine-tuning their marketing processes. 1. Know what you need. Marketing's main job is to feed the sales force with nice, warm leads. Step one towards better marketing is to understand how much and what kind of food they need. The "how much" is easily answered using basic math. Start with your sales goals and work backward. You'll need to answer the following questions: * What is our annual new business revenue goal? * How many new customers does this represent? * What percentage of qualified opportunities do we actually close? * What percentage of leads actually become qualified opportunities? Using this information, you can determine how many new inquiries your marketing must generate in order for the sales team to meet their goals. For example, let's say your annual new business revenue goal is $10M; your average deal size is $100,000; your sales people generally close 50% of the qualified opportunities presented to them; and 5% of your inquiries become qualified opportunities. A quick run around the calculator tells us that your marketing efforts need to generate 4000 leads for the sales team. With this information in hand, marketing planning becomes much more focused. Every activity in the plan should in some way contribute to generating inquiries and developing leads. If you can't trace a program or activity to this result, don't spend the money. 2. Match your marketing process to the buying process. Unless you are selling an impulse item, the decision to purchase your product or service is based on a series of small decisions. Marketing helps to facilitate, and hopefully accelerate, the decision process by making the right information available to the prospect at the right time and from the right source. It is critical to understand the entire process your customers go through while deciding to buy your product or service. Typically companies have a good understanding of what goes on after an opportunity has been identified, but few spend the time to understand the front end of the process. A typical buying process could go something like this. The prospect: a) Becomes aware that he or she has a need b) Identifies options - often a list of vendors that offer a solution c) Researches the various solutions d) Creates a "long list" and issues an RFP e) Creates a "shortlist" f) Invites vendors for demos g) Checks references h) Negotiates i) Purchases Information needs are different at each point in the process. A successful marketing program matches these needs. It allows the company to create awareness among the target prospects by engaging them in a flow of communication that helps navigate their way through the buying process. A marketing program that fails to meet the buyer's needs at each step of the process won't deliver as many qualified leads. 3. Get your sales and marketing people on the same page It is truly astonishing how many companies suffer from a fundamental disconnection between sales and marketing. Here's a sure sign that your company has that problem. Ask the question "which marketing programs result in revenue?" You'll likely hear marketing people complain that the sales team doesn't follow up on leads and won't track them. And, you'll hear sales people say that marketing's leads are worthless. You can't get an answer because no one knows. Disconnected sales and marketing efforts result in burned leads, wasted efforts, lengthy sales cycles, and low revenue. It is well worth the effort to develop a cross-functional team. One of the easiest and most effective places to start with is to develop a common definition of the word "lead". If you gathered your sales and marketing teams together and ask everyone for their definition, you'll likely find the sales team has a very different view than your marketing team. (Don't be surprised if you get different answers within the sales and marketing staffs as well.) Now work together to establish a common definition. Use this definition to guide marketing in developing leads before handing them off to sales. These steps are a good start toward making your marketing initiatives more effective. Of course, there is much more you can do to tighten the process so that your efforts produce greater results; but by taking these three steps you'll be well on your way. Quick Payday Advance Loan

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Mandeep_Mishra]Mandeep Mishra A quick payday advance loan is it the right thing for you? If you are hoping to find out if a quick payday advance loan is the right thing for you, unfortunately, we will not be able to give you a definite yes or no, simply put only you know if a quick payday advance loan is right for you. Whether a quick payday advance loan is the right thing for a particular consumer depends on many things, not the least of which is the overall financial picture for the consumer. Whether or not a quick payday advance loan will help you through a tough financial time or dig your hole deeper will depend on how you plan to use the quick payday advance loan, the amount of the quick payday advance loan and the repayment terms of the quick payday advance loan. The reason you initially need the quick payday advance loan is an important consideration. Are you going through a short term financial problem as a result of an unexpected bill, or are you trying to keep yourself afloat in a nearly impossible financial situation? If you find that you will need a quick payday advance loan often, then you may consider revising your overall budget and rethink your overall financial planning because chances are the quick payday advance loan will not help you in the long run and may cause more financial problems in the end. If you are using the quick payday advance loan sparingly or perhaps only once or twice in the course of a year or longer, than perhaps the quick payday advance loan is truly assisting you when an unexpected expense occurs. Aside from the reason you are considering the quick payday advance loan you will want to consider the amount you are borrowing and the repayment terms. For many consumers, the amount of the quick payday advance loan should be equal only to the amount they truly need, they should avoid trying to take out the biggest quick payday advance loan that they can get approved for, because in the end they have to pay the full loan back with the commensurate interest. The repayment terms are important, you need to know the amount the quick payday advance loan company will withdraw from your account and when they will withdraw it. Typically the repayment is withdrawn the same day as your next payday (auto deposit day) or within 1 to 2 business days thereafter. Keep in mind the repayment terms so you can be assured that the money needed to repay the quick payday advance loan is in your account and you will not be hit with hefty fees and penalties. Only you can decide if a quick payday advance loan is right for you, but the more information you know in advance the better off you will be and the more educated you will be in general when it comes to a quick payday advance loan.
