Creating Slide Shows

There are many online services for publishing your images for public or private viewing, but we have assembled files set up to use two popular Flash/JavaScript utilities (SlideshowPro and SimpleViewer) for you to put together your own slide show instance. You can locate the resulting folder of files either in your Home Directory's "public_html" folder, on web server space you have through your program or project, or on web server space you have through a private ISP ("Internet Service Provider").

Here is a sample of what you can create:

The directions for using our set-up are contained in a PDF file that you can download from the link below. You will also have to download the archive of files and folders to use with the directions from its link below. We also are making available the Quick Start Guide included as Appendix C in the documentaion.

The slide show set-up we have put together uses two slide show creation tools: SimpleViewer and SlideshowPro. We would like to thank and acknowledge the authors of these tools. SlideshowPro is a commercial product, a Flash component, for which the ETO holds a developer license. SimpleViewer is free.

These utilities are widely used on the Web and, in fact, here at U.Va. for the "This Week in Photos" galleries. Here are links to some examples of their use (all links open in a new window):
