Copying CDs and DVDs Using Sonic DigitalMedia

All Curry DCI Windows workstations come loaded with the Sonic DigitalMedia software that one can use to back up data files, make audio CDs, convert audio CD contents to MP3 format, make disc labels, and copy CDs and DVDs. This Tech Tip focuses on the last item: the copying of CDs and DVDs.

1. Launch Sonic from your Windows Start menu by selecting the "DigitalMedia Home" link::

2. Click on the "Copy" Link on the menu in the left panel of the DigitalMedia home page:

3. In the drop-down copy menu, click on the "Disc Copy" link:

4. Sonic DigitalMedia will display the available CD/DVD drive(s) on your system and prompt you to insert the CD or DVD you wish to copy into the drive:

Sonic's copy utility will copy the contents of your master CD or DVD into memory.

5. When Sonic has finished copying the disc contents into memory, it will open the CD/DVD drive door and prompt you to remove your original and replace it with a blank CD or DVD (NOTE: you can only copy CD contents to another CD or DVD contents to another DVD!). When Sonic has copied all of the original contents to the blank disc you inserted, it will open the drive and prompt you to remove the new copy. You can then quit Sonic or continue to make additional copies if you want to.

Don't forget that Sonic DigitalMedia also contains a utility to create custom labels for your newly copied CD or DVD! Click on the "Tools" menu choice below the "Copy" button to access the label utility.
